MethodData and Kinova Reptiles developed Cltch to simplify reptile management, giving users an intuitive platform to manage their ball python collections. Available globally, Cltch helps breeders around the world maintain immaculate records while planning for the future.
Cltch started as a simple project to overhaul the website of one Ball Python breeder, Kinova. They wanted to build a few custom improvements to their virtual incubator; to share new animals with customers more easily. The conversation with us quickly evolved.
We realized that many breeders were struggling without a good inventory and gene tracking system. As a result, breeders end up managing endless paper notes and messy spreadsheets instead of focusing on their reptiles.
Our UX/UI Design team collaborated closely with Kinova and interviewed other breeders to understand the complexities of breeding ball pythons. We spent time researching the reptile industry and refreshing ourselves on the basics of gene inheritance.
As we spoke to breeders, we documented their daily workflows and uncovered their frustrations.

Our engineers built a combination of microservices to test the genetic possibilities of breeding pairs and track their offspring for generations. Cltch provides a detailed breakdown of potential genetic traits, probabilities, and possible mutations, empowering you to make informed breeding decisions.
After hatching new clutches, Cltch automatically gives users detailed family trees. Breeders can track detailed information about pairings and their offspring, making it easy to see how all of your reptiles are connected.
Since launching, Cltch has gained over 2,000 users in the ball python community.
We fully expect to see this number increase as we expand to other species and add new functionality to Cltch. Our ongoing partnership with Kinova is strong and we continue to push and innovate for Cltch’s success.
